Most safes are rated according to some form of burglary or fire rating. A safe is rated as to how impervious it is to threat of fire or assault, in how long it would be safe from fire and also in how long it is safe from a thief’s attempt to compromise its security.
The Underwriters Laboratory (UL) defined safe ratings to include tool resistant (TL) or torch resistant (TR). A safe that is rated as TRTL is both torch and tool resistant.
A TL 15 safe is tool resistant to attack for 15 minutes. A TL 30 safe is tool resistant to attack for 30 minutes.
